The British resistance remained as stubborn as ever in the centre. More gaps were appearing though. Gheluvelt remained in British hands and the line held… just. Dusk brought an end to the battle, with the BEF clinging on across the battlefield. The Germans would have to regroup, despite the gains in the north.
